I never played TFT prior to last week. My only "experience" with the game was hearing about it was the game Steve Jackson made prior to GURPS. So, when the KS launched, I backed it for the "I want it All" level but I didn't order any add on items. Now, after reading the books, playing with my family, and playing with my group, I really like the game! However! I need more Megahexas. Do we know if more megahexas are going to be offered online?
Also, if you're taking suggestions I'd love more megahexas for overland terrain and perhaps even villages/cities. Thanks! |

We have an upcoming campaign that will offer new megahexes. Please follow the Warehouse 23 account on Kickstarter before the end of this month.

First, welcome to an awesome game, and I look forward to hearing what you and your crew are up to!
Also, you make a really important point: I have been a dedicated TFT player for 41 years and am both very happy about the way the new 'tactile' materials work at the table and immediately aware that I don't have enough of them. Of course you can play TFT as a theater of the mind roleplaying game if you really want to, but the design purpose and, I feel, best way to enjoy is by using all the moving parts, laying out the map of your dungeon on the table top using the tiles. We never could really do this in the past because the tiles you'd make by cutting out bits of paper were not satisfactory, so the best option was a Chessex mat with a few lines scribbled on in erasable marker. Now we can do this as intended, and it works great, but you only have enough tiles to lay out one or two medium sized rooms of a dungeon. I think folks are going to want to have ~5x this much 'core' megahex material, and groups who play often will be return customers or any number of little 'color' add ons that enhance the experience. |

Other good options include: * Getting a large hex sheet and then using things to block off blocked terrain (e.g. black megahexes and hexes). * Printing hex grid transparencies (copy shops can option do this if you have a source for the grid) and then laying those over maps you draw on paper. * (As you just mentioned) using Chessex-type maps and dry erase markers. |

I don’t have these myself, so I don’t know how well they work, but this site sells transparent overlays with megahexes printed on them. I also don’t know if the hexes are the same size as the megahexes that come in the legacy box.

You can work with the 1" hexes these folks sell if you play with the markers from the pocket box or previous edition, but the new edition has 1.5" hexes as a default. I mentioned Chessex because they have various sizes of vinyl mats with 1.5" hexes.

If you have Heroscape tiles these work great as did the spin-off game Arena of the Planeswalkers

Welcome Ulairi!!! I think you're going to really enjoy playing TFT for years to come!
Fortunately I'm a long-time collector of units and maps for my various games (I can run a full division worth of tanks and GEVs in Ogre now), so I took the precaution of ordering four extra copies of the megahexes (and an extra copy each of all the unit markers) during the Kickstarter, and I LOVE being able to lay out a pretty hefty chunk of dungeon. Adding in a Chessex map of one size or another should help me with my "big room" fixation as well, but even then, I suspect in a year or two, I'll be looking around thinking "Man, I wish I'd ordered a couple more sets of Megahexes!" But now Phil says that SJG is about to further satisfy my fetish with a new MH kickstarter, so I plan to go hog wild on that one as well. Plus, don't forget that the Adventures book comes with a few extra MH (for the special terrains) as well! (And yes, I ordered an extra copy of that one too...) And who knows? Maybe SJG will make the existing sets of Megahexes available as an add-on to the new MH kickstarter and you can have the best of both worlds!!! (hint, hint...) |

They do say they can produce additional sizes if contacted, so maybe they could do 1.5” hexes? The plastic sheets seem small at 12x18”, though.
