Default Prone figures

ITL page 106: A figure on the ground, crawling, or bending over to pick up a weapon is considered to face "rear" in all six directions;"

This being the case, one gets +4 DX to strike such a figure, that seems pretty clear. However, does this also mean that such a figure can't engage anyone in any adjacent hex? In which case its opponents use the disengaged options when selecting their actions?

Note that a prone crossbowman is at +1 DX to shoot a random target in his own hex because he doesn't face anywhere.

I have attempted to resolve this here: http://www.hcobb.com/tft/house_rules.html#Combat

Eh? Where do you get this from? Surely the only way to attack a figure in your own hex is via HTH, and you can't use Missile or Thrown weapons in HTH?

Page 102: Move up to l hex and/or drop to prone/kneeling position and/or fire a missile weapon

Page 106: For casting spells a prone or kneeling wizard has normal front hexes.

Page 116: Crossbows may be fired from a prone position

Note that only wizards have defined prone front hexes, so I added the same exception for missile and thrown weapons.

None of that says anything about shooting anyone in your own hex. Even if the rules don't specifically prohibit such an action, surely it's common sense that it shouldn't be allowed.

There is no restriction I can find against shooting a figure in your own hex who doesn't engage you. Rats for crossbowmen, etc.

It seems fairly clear that Dragons can scorch those that they trample for example.

Sorry your question got threadjacked by hcobb.

To actually address your actual question, yes, a figure who is "down" does not engage anyone, and foes next to them can take disengaged options
(if they aren't engaged by anyone else).

As for hcobb's threadjack, that should be answered in a different thread, so I'll start a new one for that.
