Sword in one hand torch in the other seems like a common option, but what's the talent to actually fight like that?
Page 36: "Ax/Mace (2): Ability to use all axes, maces, and hammers on the Weapon Table. Note: The club requires no skill. Anyone can strike with a club or torch." Page 41: "Two Weapons ... and you must have the talents for any weapons you use this way." There is no Torch talent so you can't use Two Weapons with it, right? Darn cheap $60 magical flaming weapons!

That could depend on how you view the club. The rules are very specific that you do not have to have talent to use a club, but in the weapon table it falls, for some reason, under ax/mace. If it belongs to that family of weapons then it could be reasonable to allow that you could have it as one of the two weapons for use with the two weapons talent. If you believe it is an orphan, not part of that family, then the rules seem to disallow it.
For what it is worth, I think I would allow it. |

It's an off handed weapon that doesn't require a talent. If you have Two Weapons you can fight with it as you would any other off handed weapon; if you don't, it incurs the -6 penalty, just like other unskilled two-weapon fighting.

Are we assuming the character wants to actually strike with the torch? Simply holding a torch in your off-hand shouldn't generate any penalties, but otherwise I agree with Lars.

I still think that since it is in the Ax/Mace family rather than with odd weapons, if you have Expert Ax/Mace it applies to club. Frankly a Mace is just a metal club. However, you can use a club without having Ax/Mace Talent and without incurring the -4 DX penalty or the 4/DX attack roll.

Take as an example the Pirate on page 45 who's fighting off the naughty tentacles.
Human hero ST 11 DX 11 IQ 11 MA 10 Shortsword(2d-1+1; -1 DX to be attacked), Torch(1d-2), Kilt Sword(2), Two Weapons(2), Weapon Expertise-Sword(3), etc. So if he strikes with the sword and parries with the torch then the torch subtracts two points from each tentacle hit. Correct?
