Beldros (adjDX 12) has a bow ready and is charge attacked by an orc with a spear (adjDX 11). Who attacks first?

From Melee, page 12. "On any turn when a pole weapon is being used in a charge attack or against a charge attack (or both), roll all the pole-weapon results first, in order of adjDX, before resolving any other attacks."

Indeed, and that sounds strange when against a character with a ranged weapon.

Agreed. Logically, the archer should fire first.

I'd agree with this, though it's partially mitigated by the fact that the only way to disengage is to take a whole turn to do it, otherwise the character's movement is limited to shifting hexes.

In my campaign, I allow you to attack during movement at -6 DX. If you do so your action is used up. I would consider this an optional rule, it requires people to remember that 'figure A has attacked, but not yet moved' sort of thing. The -6 DX penalty ensures that it does not happen often. Warm regards, Rick. |

I believe I have seen some people state that they order actions by weapon type then adjDX. In other words...
- All missile weapon attacks occur first, in order of adjDX - Next, all polearm attacks, in order of adjDX - Next, everything else but spells in order of adjDX - Finally, spells. Seems reasonable to me but I think I'd lump polearm and thrown attacks together, ordered by adjDX. Last edited by platimus; 09-23-2018 at 06:36 PM. |
