Summon Myrmidon or Summon Myrmidon?

"Myrmidon" is the name for the 6th level of original D&D's "Fighting Man" class. I always just assumed that TFT wizards summoned characters out of D&D campaigns to use as meat shields...

For the record, though, the intent was always Human, not Bug.

Due to the entry on them as Hymenopterans, I always had the spell summon the bug. Intended or not, it was my test for whether a player knew TFT well... And for novices, it was a way to make them waste a turn attempting to disbelieve a summon.

. . .which was all well and good until the first time I cracked open ITL to look at the monsters and found this myrmidon lurking among the other HYMENOPTERANS on page 63:

MYRMIDONS are highly-developed warriors; many hives don't have them. They are man-sized and can use any human weapon their strength allows. ST 12, DX 12, IQ 8, MA' 10; figure combat ability as for a human. Myrmidons can operate without Basics to control them.

I would keep the possibility of summoning the Giant Bug version. The evil orc wizard might be clever....

Unfortunately the Hymenopterans didn't make it into the modern TFT :-(
