Gurps Mmorpg
I know GURPS online didn't make it.
However, there have been some recent changes in the MMORPG development front. Recently companies have begun to release software that allows you to make your own MMORPG with little or no programming (although you still need to do some scripting). Basically, you use drag and drop tools, and all the complicated network coding is already in place. If you want a unique looking game, then you'll need to make your own models. Realm Crafter, one such MMORPG creation tool, comes with a stock class system, but you can use a skill system as well. It's relatively easy to input the stats for the skills you want to include in the game. Naturally, I'm talking about full 3d MMORPGs, not 2d games. If you're interested, stop by MMORGP Maker: http://www.mmorpgmaker.com We have members will all levels of game development skills. I know I'd certainly like to see something like GURPS made into a successful online 3d game. |

Re: Gurps Mmorpg
All I want is a GURPS CRPG in the first place :( Or something to help simulate combat at all.

Re: Gurps Mmorpg
I'm slowly cobbling together a java engine to handle GURPS combat. A lot of the features are vaporware right now, but I do handle the effects of damage with as much detail as I have found in the books (less crippling of limbs). It isn't really usable yet, though. It lacks a fast-and-easy GUI, hit locations, spatial relations and a few other small things.
Right now I'm mostly using it to roll lots of dice and manage trial combats (ie, 5 vikings vs a Dragon, 400 times, who wins most often), to help me play-balance encounters. In theory I'd like help working on it, but I'd need to review the SJG license terms before I could do that, since I only know they exist. I know the tool isn't ready for release yet. I like GURPS, but I like it best with more options on than I can keep in my head easily; a computer to manage such things would be ideal. Just not an easy thing to make for me so far. |

Re: Gurps Mmorpg
A turn based tabletop/2d or (yay!)3D GURPS combat game would rule.

The paragraph up at the top, "Want to Write One Yourself" has links to the applicable policies. IIRC, it pretty much just boils down to asking permission, if you're doing a free program.
