I'm building a campaign for some players who are new to RPGs and I'm leaning heavily on the way Dungeon Fantasy simplifies many of the concepts, tightens narrative focus and makes it easy for me to churn out stuff without having to do a lot of pre-planning. But I find that I'm going all over the place throughout the DF series, plus its addenda, plus Power-Ups, plus Low-Tech, plus Martial Arts, plus all the odd and sundry places where animals/creatures/monsters are statted. Of course I'm enjoying the heck out of myself. I've been away from GURPS for 7 years and I forgot how much I loved it.
However... I would do such a happy dance if there were a single resource, organized sensibly, that consolidated the most relevant DF + PU + LT + MA rules and ideas into a compendium. And then I remembered "Powered by GURPS." And it seemed like it would be a natural, if slightly stupid, fit. I don't know how many people new to GURPS would use it as their gateway, but seeing as how DF seems to be ridiculously popular (enough to have two dozen supplements), I should think there would be at least some people keen on getting into GURPS this way. Then again, it really is a stupid idea, since in its current form it probably makes a lot more money than a consolidated (even hardcover) text would. Still, a guy can dream.
