Default GURPS Dungeon Fantasy Monsters 3: Born of Myth & Magic

I die with a smile
'Twas an honor to engage
Such a renowned beast
— Sir Bannyk, last words
Without monsters, GURPS Dungeon Fantasy would just be a virtual Renaissance Faire. That's why we've already crafted multiple bestiaries of unique and disgusting foes to challenge your dungeon-delving murderhobos. But it's only today that things become legen- (wait for it), with GURPS Dungeon Fantasy Monsters 3: Born of Myth & Magic.

Face 16 terrifying creatures drawn from either classic mythology or twisted magic and mana! A single glance from a basilisk may be enough to kill you, while the cockatrice demands that you fight blind. You'll never know who to trust when a doppelganger can replace any NPC. Avoid the charms of a dryad and the swarms of the giant ant. A harpy brings both disease and terror, while the lava lizard just wants the world to burn. The living pit defies physics to open beneath your feet (see the preview for details). There's no predator fiercer than the manticore and no more famous source of statues than medusa. An octopus blossom just wants to nourish its roots with your corpse. The phase serpent makes a mockery of doors and walls as the phoenix defies death itself. The rock troll is a straightforward melee threat, while the rot worm is weak but comes at you in swarms. And you may never cast Body of Shadow again when you see the Shadow Warrior that it (rarely) spawns.

But wait, there's more! Through the magic of prefixes and variations, each monster can become a wide range of related baddies. Fight a Myrmecoleon (lion-headed Giant Ant), Siren (beautiful Harpy), Lamia (vermiform Medusa), Mage-Eater Blossom (mana damping Octopus Blossom), or Hydra Worm (multi-headed Rot Worm). Or add prefixes like Flying, Furious, Holy, Phase (p. 17), or Shadow (p. 21) to create a truly terrifying custom beast. Heck, even if you don't play GURPS Dungeon Fantasy, you can combine these with "Warping Monsters Into Mutants" (from Pyramid #3/90: After the End) for a bevy of mutated freaks!

If your game calls for fearsome monsters, regardless of the reason, let GURPS Dungeon Fantasy Monsters 3: Born of Myth & Magic put a classic spin on your next fight.
