Mate replication help

Playing a game this morning and a Ghoulfiends card was played which states that no items help against only level to beat. A player charmed the Goulfiends and a Mate card was played. The question at hand is: Would the mated Goulfiends have the same abilities (i.e. no items can help defeat - fight with your level only) or would the mate card just supply a generic same level monster without any inherent bonus or special fighting guidelines?
