Discarding items in battle not unequiping

A friend was losing against 3 monsters then forced me to help them. I know you can not unequip items once in battle but can you simply discard attached items to lower my overall bonus so that we would lose?

I don't think it's possible. But I'm not 100% sure about it

You are not allowed to discard Items in play or from your hand just because you feel like it.
