Weird, I thought I posted here. Ah well, perhaps my memory is going.

Exciting news! Judging by the picture, I assume this is the comics rather than the films?

Keeping my fingers crossed for a DC edition.

Yeah, I'm a DC man myself, but even so I can't help but find the association with such a high profile license as Marvel darn exciting, especially as a possible indication of things to come.

Before this announcement there are any number of licenses that I would have assumed were "too big" for Munchkin to tackle. This development forces me to reevaluate that notion.

This just sounds weird.

The point of Munchkin to me has been that it pokes fun at the established genre. The light-hearted jabs at superhero stories was the core of Super Munchkin.

Granted, from a business perspective, this is HUGE for SJG and their partnership with USAoploy. But it still seems very odd to me. :)

Y'know, I've actually thought that before myself, which is why the licenses I've been most attracted to were the ones that were for properties that were humorous to begin with, like Axe Cop, or Adventure Time, but after playing Munchkin Conan, I decided that, while that wasn't for me (since I'm not a Conan fan and it was lacking in humor, being based on a licensed property instead of poking fun at one) it still made for an enjoyable game, to the extent that I could see myself buying into a licensed Munchkin variant, even without the signature humor, so long as the license in question was for a property that I WAS a big fan of.

Marvel isn't necessarily that property for me, either, but I still find it exciting because its very existence opens the possibility (in my mind, anyway) of other high profile licenses, some of which I AM a big fan of.

Obviously, we can't comment about whether a DC license might be in the works (and yes, it would be great); for now let's please focus on how amazing THIS news is.

(It's pretty amazing. I can say that definitely, as I have the cards from this set open in another window on my laptop . . .)
