Gamma Ray Lasers and Surge
Does anyone know the physics behind why gamma ray lasers (and x-ray lasers, for that matter) have the surge modifier? The text says that they are "free electron lasers," but that's just a reference to how the laser itself is generated. Is it because it's "ionizing?"
