Picks do half a much injury(?) coming out?

I've read through a few threads and this blog post on picks by Peter V. Dell'Orto, but I want to make sure I've got it right.

Changing "damage" to "injury" in the GURPS Basic Set quote above renders it as follows:

"When the weapon comes free, it does half as much injury as it did going in."

This is also valid, correct? Or I have I misinterpreted things?
