If you use the bard ability to force someone to help you, can they use a card to run away from the combat right before we win?

Do you mean like Potion of Cowardice?
Playing that would force both of them to run away. |

The person that I forced to fight with me played a card that gave her an automatic escape.

A card that gives automatic escape can only be played when you're running away. Such cards do not force you (or anyone else, for that matter) out of the combat. The card must say it forces you to Run Away (as Potion of Cowardice does).
