Android Sidekick classification (Star Munchkin)

The play: Using the sidekick android's +12 to self destruct in order to defeat a monster. Another player places a Time Warp card to intercept the play.

Question: Does a sidekick/android classify as an item in that case? The Time Warp would revert my +12, but would I lose this sidekick as well? I thought that I would be able to bring him back because I did not consider him to be an item.

Thoughts?
