Here's the situation: I have a player that want to be a great infiltrator. He has a Shape-Stealing (a Morph power that takes someone else's shape) from Powers (p. 151), but the problem is that when he takes someones shape, he is unable to act like that person due to lack of knowledge.
So here's what I would like a power to do: -linked with Shape-Stealing -would learn things about the subject (the person whose shape the character is taking) that the subject would either tell a normal (not BEST) friend (no secrets) or that would be revealed through average surveillance (where the subject lives, names of people interacted with often, how they greet others, etc.). -The character would then be able to roll Acting to pass off as that person, and would know (or at least have some inkling) that he/she is considering is outside the norm for their disguise. (Common Sense tied to Morph?) Does this request make sense? |

It actually does more than you're asking for but it ought to be what your player needs.

Obviously yes! I had saw mind probe in Basic and (for whatever reason) didn't check it out in Powers.
Fake it (+15%): Mind Probe: (Memory Bank: +50%; Accessibility: only to target of Shape-Steal, -10%; Maximum Duration: 8 hours, -5%; No "secrets", -20%) [23] When the player has successfully used Shape Steal on a target, he gains sufficient knowledge of that target to use Acting to pass as that individual. He'll know names of people his target know (but not the ones that the target would want to keep secret) as well as knowing basic things like where the target parked, where it lives, works, etc. Does the price for it look right or does it seem too high? |

I'm reading over mind bank, and it looks like it is no modifier (probably because the built-in hour that it takes cancels it out). It is +100% for snapshots equal to IQ.
So the power would be: Fake it (+75%): Mind Probe: (Memory Bank; Accessibility: only to target of Shape-Steal, -10%; Accessibility: Only in altered form, -10%; Maximum Duration: 8 hours, -5%; No "secrets", -20%; Reduced time 6 (1 Minute), +120% ) [35] After the character has successfully used Shape Steal on a target, he may spend an additional minute probing the subject's knowledge and placing it into his mind bank. As a result the character gains sufficient knowledge of that target to use Acting to pass as that individual. He'll know names of people his target know (but not the ones that the target would want to keep secret) as well as knowing basic things like where the target parked, where it lives, works, etc. This knowledge is lost once the character reverts to his original form a Shape-Steals another target. Looking at this, I think the accessibility modifiers might be too low. Anyway, how does it look now? |
