If you encounter Loki with only a class and no race, can you choose to "lose" your race? (i.e. not losing anything!)

Bad Stuff has to "hurt," so if you have a choice between something that will have no effect and something that will have an effect, you have to suffer the option that will affect you.

Yup. Bad Stuff, Curses, pre-combat nastiness. . . Any time there's a choice between disaster and benign nothingness, there really isn't a choice: You must take the effect that hurts.
