Tiger steed with steed enhancer

I and my group had a big discussion about what happens if a tiger steed with a steed enhancer is killed.
For example I had the Tiger steed equipped with the Talking potion.
Another player plays a card that specific says "Kill a steed".
The tiger steed ability now let it return to my hand. But what of the talking potion?

I argued that the tiger has nine lives and therefore returned to me. There should be no reason for it to have lost it's skill of talking, during the event. The tiger survives as it was. I'm not getting a new non-talking tiger.

However now I'm really in doubt if this is correct. The tiger steed is returned to my hand, but nothing on the card(s) implies that steed enhancer(s) goes with it?

Most steed enhancers say:
"Place this card above and behind a steed card. If the steed is lost, stolen, or discarded, this card goes with it."
I would assume that in the split second it does hit the discard pile that the enhancer would be sent to the discard and not brought to your hand along with your tiger steed. That's how I would rule it if we are going by the book from my experience with the tiger steed. BUT I do like playing with homestyle rules so I would do it the other way personally. If you need anything else with rulings feel free to ask.

There's also a ruling that I recently saw again that regards Ship Enhancers and a Ship that could reenter your hand. That ruling was that the Ship enters your hand, stops being a Ship and the Enhancer goes to the discards. I would think the same situation applies to the Tiger Steed.

Since Steeds are Door cards and Steed Enhancers are Treasure cards, they couldn't even be discarded in a way such as to be kept together. The Enhancer is lost, but Tiger Steed will return to its owner's hand (it never goes to the discard pile).
