I've posted Firbolgs and Formorians, Flail Snails, and my own take on not-quite-but-inspired-by-D&D dragons.

BTW, the Pathfinder SRD has a lot more monsters in it than the regular d20 SRD, so it allows for a few more "legal" beasties.

Again, the SRD is irrelevant here, since any GURPS material we publish can not be part of the OGL in the first place. Just make sure that the appropriate "fan site" disclaimer is on the page and leave it at that.

Of course, this means we are not limited to 3rd Edition/Pathfinder material either - feel free to go through the other editions of D&D as well.

I'll gladly give it. You can even tweak the behol-er, floating eyeball to make it a little more GURPS-like.

I don't see why not, but Jürgen didn't put up any of the ones I did, so I don't know if he's just narrowing his focus or sidestepping a potential problem.

I skipped them because I wanted to narrowly focus on D&D critters. I didn't even look to see what might or mightn't be included already on the wiki.

I'm fairly certain that the "product identity" trademarks are protected from derivative use.

Oh, when he gets to it, I have rough translations of most of the traps (through CR 8) in the SRD.

And as a general rule, I would want to be courteous to the original company. Regardless of the legalese, it's pretty clear that Wizards doesn't want folks to use the terms "beholder" or "mind flayer" to refer to monsters akin to the ones it has with those terms.

I'm not sure what SJG would think of that if we offered near-identical stats for creatures from a book they still have for sale.

The d20 licence/OGL is about what commercial publishers can/cannot do in their publications which they sell. That's different from private fan sites. They kept specific monsters because they wanted to retain a monopoly on who could sell publications with these specific monsters.
