Default Creating new weapon

Hey guys. New to the forums, don't lynch me. :D

I'm creating a unique weapon for a forthcoming sci-fi gurps campaign. I basically want a glove that functions as a psionic weapon, firing a bolt of kinetic energy at a ROF of 1/second. I want something that would be competitive with decent TL11 ranged/energy weapons like beam rifles or carbines, but for aesthetics sake still just shoots a big psi/PK bolt no more than every 1 sec or so. New to creating weapons, so I don't really know what's involved.
I could just use another TL-appropriate ranged weapon as a template i guess, but like...blasters are 3d at a RoF of 3. Or something. Would it be OP/Underpowered to just combine the rolls and deal 9d damage at a RoF of 1??


**or a weapon that grabs the nearest chunk of stuff and throws it at high velocity for cr damage would be cool :D

For a beam of psycho-kinetic force, I'd recommend basing it off of the Force Beam weapons (UT128). They're already close to what you want, a RoF 1 weapon dealing heavy crushing damage with double knockback and no armor divisor. If it's a kind of "psi amplifier" drawing on the wielder's energy instead of a power cell, it could cost FP (maybe 1 FP per shot, or maybe 1 FP to charge it for X number of shots.) As far as total damage output, I wouldn't increase it too much. The Force Beams deliver more damage per-shot than a blaster (roughly +50% for the small-arms) and going to twice that probably would be overkill. It is a TL10 weapon though, so you could easily justify making a TL11 version more compact and energy efficient.

Thanks, I'll look it up :D

My GM is pretty flexible, so I can probably adapt this fairly easily to something appropriate.

If you are using the psionic powers in GURPS Psionic Powers this is a Pyschotronic Generator (GURPS Psi-Tech p. 13) for TK Crush (GURPS Psionic Powers p. 54). If it's a glove it's a Mini (SM-6) generator, a rifle sized version would be a Small (SM -4) generator, and a Portable (SM-2) generator could be a rifle attached to a back or belt pack. It should probably have Weaponized -50% (GURPS Psionic Powers p. 54) and Accurate 10 as per the suggestion on GURPS Psi-Tech p. 13.

This is a Pyschotronic Generator for for TK Bullet (GURPS Psionic Powers p. 53).
