Does it automatically assume that the affliction is a malediction?
Is the duration covered by the affliction rules or does it need to be added to the spell? Is the range covered by the affliction rules or does it need to be added to the spell? Thank you all. I'm just having a hard time trying to understand whether that means the spell acts as an affliction or just allows one to add modifiers to it. It's confusing to me. |

It's automatically a malediction and add range/duration are as for the spell.
Basically, it just allows you to add affliction effects to the spell. It does not make it follow the Affliction advantage rules. |

Remember you have to add a Range modifier to determine your max range (a 100 is typical in my games) and the spell is resisted per normal (p. 36 of MH1).

Thank you both. That covers exactly what I was looking for. The problem was that for Affliction you get to roll each second to recover, and that was the problem I was having with duration. For range, I was just wondering if it went by standard malediction stuff. You guys cleared it up!
