Default Boon usage.

My friend used a boon that would give you +10 for every race card you have in play or in your hand. We were playing Munchkin Fu which has no races. He argued that Styles were the equivalent of Races. What do you guys think?

I say that Styles are Styles, not Races, and it's a shame, but the boon fizzles. . .

I have ruled in the past that if you're playing a non-fantasy Munchkin set and a Boon comes up that *can't* apply to you, given the game you're in, you are free to try for a different Boon.

So, blow out of your current level tracking, start over, and make sure you pick the boon at the same Level as when you picked the previous boon? Or do we not care? I can get behind either.

I would rule that you have to pick the new Boon as soon as the first one comes up and you see that it can't be used. You also have to show the rest of the table, so they know you aren't cheating.

Curious - and probably not something that can easily be answered...

If there are boons that only work in certain games, would it be possible to program the level counter to let you select which flavor of Munchkin you're playing at the beginning and make it disallow all boons that don't apply?

It's designed to work with original Munchkin because that's far and away the most popular set. Right now, we haven't announced any plans to add other "skins" to the app. It's not out of the question, but it's a nontrivial programming problem and our programming resources are stretched pretty thin at the moment.
