Lets do it. I'm interested to see how the two interact. I am confident enough that the plot will just thicken instead of falling apart.
The bunking idea occurred to me as well. Its a good simple way to arrange things, and its completely in keeping with the weird 'things just happen' effect that follows the dreamers. I'm interested in who will figure things out first. Dreamers won't passively detect each other. I don't think there will be much chance of them not figuring things out though. Logistically, I was planning to quote relevant parts into each thread. cross linking the two threads at the start of the action is also a good idea. I'll probably do both. Chandra's thread is a good 'home thread' for this, I agree. I'll link things up when the timing is just right.

IIRC I used it last for a door ajar in that German world with the InfoBahn. I think Isuggested it so that she and Tereza would be in the same room but I think you said it wasn't needed.

However his real passion is fieldwork and every chance he gets he goes sifting through ruins in Western Europe. Parker's obsession in life is finding the Altar of Victory, a long lost Roman artifact that disappeared during the decline of the Roman Empire. He also be a little bit amoral in his attempts to gain valuable artifacts, and has no qualms about smuggling artifacts through customs or making deals for them on the black market. His hobby is fencing, which is a sport he takes quite seriously and has become moderately skilled. In summation, Parker is driven by a desire to gain glory and prestige and will always do what it takes to achieve his goals Note: I based him partially on one my old anthropology professors, a guy who would tell us these great stories about when he was younger acquiring (sometimes by smuggling through customs) many of the artifacts that now sat in his classroom. This my first GURPS character so let me know what you guys think. Last edited by kwwhit5531; 11-25-2015 at 04:12 PM. |

Good Submission. I know you're a little apprehensive about building characters in Gurps correctly, and this sheet is pretty good about being correct. Most of these suggestions are about building a good character sheet that accurately represents the character rather than just a correct one.
Also, I like the concept. Things that must change: The Control Rating effects the cost of disadvantages. With a rating of 15 you only get [-7] for greed. See basic set pg 120-121. Rank and Tenure are bought with a -60% accessibility, due to the fact that they only apply on one world. Things you should be aware of: His fencing skill should be sport (fencing). Rules as Written you get a -3 on it if you actually use it for combat. RAW says you buy it up as a default. I'm going to be nice and say its an average technique. Consider if he'd realistically have the technique or not. The three points are certainly free flavour points. Building a Better You: The character's black market and smuggling habits are no where reflected on this sheet. He probably needs one of forgery, streetwise, smuggling, or holdout -- and perhaps more than one. His disadvantage list is a little sparse. Given he's a linguist and studies the roman empire, I'm surprised he doesn't read latin. I'm surprised by the lack of the writing skill. Its a major part of academic life -- and unlike teaching, is actually neccessary to get the job in the first place. In a similar vein, his overall skill list is rather sparse: You probably need a social skill. Other everyman skills you need to consciously decide if he has or not include computer operation (which may actually be a requirement for research at this TL), driving (choose only if he's a good driver), and I'd like to see a hobby or body of knowledge beyond just the rapier. You have sky high IQ but relatively little in the way of skills. Gurps scores vary a lot less than some other games. IQ 14 is amazingly fantastic and broad. May I suggest spending less there and more on skills. Also, you can pay 10 points for 'academic talent' at 10/level and get most of the bonus you'd be using IQ for. It adds to all history, geography, research, writing, and so forth. No its not a standard talent, but I've used it before. Note it won't apply to skills used in a distinctively non-acedemic way. Other talents may be appropriate and full of flavour. Other players should feel free to comment.
