RPM linked to Energy Cost?

In my seemingly eternal tinkering with magic systems I wondered if anyone else had taken the RPM system with its excellent spell design but mapped it to a fatigue/energy-based system? Obviously there's some setting considerations in any such approach but... Well, just wondering if anyone had actually done this.
