This has appeared on the B&N store.
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/toys...4321188&itm=13 Overview Several of our Munchkin boosters add quirky, weird rules into the game. They've always been popular with fans, and now we have a way to get five hard to find boosters all at once. Munchkin Game Changers contains all of the cards from Munchkin Fairy Dust, Munchkinomicon, Munchkin Monster Enhancers, and Munchkin Reloaded! It also includes some bonus items - new Fairy Dust and Munchkinomicon level counters, and four cards formerly only available directly from Steve Jackson Games. Munchkin Game Changers is cheaper than buying these products separately, and provides a perfect way for both diehard fans and newcomers to expand their Munchkin collection! I wonder which promos come with it. Also I'm curious to see the level counters and the price to see if I should grab it since I already have all of those boosters.
Also I only count 4 boosters listed and the second sentence says 5 boosters. Interesting that it wasn't announced in the Illuminator first (that I know of). Last edited by Blazinjsin; 01-20-2013 at 03:15 AM. |

I don't think the Holiday Surprise pack has ever been announced in the Illuminator, so that doesn't really surprise me. It did make it's way onto the Munchkin news page a week and a bit after Andrew announced it in the Google+ hangout session, but the B&N page had been up long before that too.
On the pack itself, it would indeed be nice to know what those extra promo cards are. They certainly aren't as easy to guess as the Holiday ones were. Fairy Dust-Up would seem like a good choice, but I have no clue about the rest. If they're reprints of the older promos which seem to be out of circulation, then I may even look into finding a way to get the set... Oh, and if that five boosters thing is correct, my guess is that the one not mentioned is Marked for Death. It seems like the only Fantasy one to be missing, apart from the licensed ones. On the other hand, with 4 boosters and a few bonus cards, the number of cards (64) is pretty similar to Holiday Surprise (68), so maybe there are only 4 boosters after all, as 83 would certainly be a weird number of cards to have in a print run...

I find it kind of hilarious that, in another thread about disappeared boosters, I JUST posted the following:
Quote:
I'll just have to console myself with the notion that "great minds think alike". Maybe this will breathe new life into the possibility of Munchkinomicon dice (perhaps with a Jumbo D6 instead of the small ones that Fairy Dust Dice got, since Jumbos seem so popular). I doubt it, but my previous cockeyed optimism paid off rather rapidly. I'll wait to see what all the extras are. I might just pick one up even though I have all the boosters, since at the very least, since this is likely the last we'll see of Munchkinomicon for quite a while, it might make for good trading fodder with the right person... Man, I'd hate to be the guy who just paid $18 + Shipping for a single one of those boosters based on the comment "[We] have no plans to reprint the Munchkinomicon booster." made a mere three days ago.

To clear up some questions without doing a post-by-post reply:
* It's four boosters, but it also includes the cards from Fairy Dust Dice, so they probably counted that as a fifth "booster." (And it has 19mm sparkly pink dice, so the FDD cards are useful!) * This does absolutely nothing to make Munchkinomicon Dice more cost-effective. Sorry. * We are not reprinting booster packs; my statement was very carefully worded. I never said we would not reprint or reuse the *cards* from those booster packs, and in fact Holiday Surprise should have served as notice that we very well might do exactly that. * We did not announce Game Changers in the Illuminator because we don't discuss exclusive sets until the partner who has the exclusive does. This has been SOP and will continue to be SOP going forward for any exclusive sets we may or may not be doing.

I just thought that the continued availability of Munchkinomicon in some form might make it more plausible to do an add-on for it. Oh well. I didn't have MUCH of a hope. :-)

All I'm saying is if I was a more casual player who didn't follow everything Munchkin, read the post that you said the booster wasn't going to be reprinted, went out and spent $20 on getting one, then, three days later, found out that you were re-releasing the exact cards from the booster along side a bunch of other stuff for, likely, around the same price I just paid for the booster alone... I'd be irked. Not something worth fighting about over, as it wasn't me who got ripped off. It just, for a second time, serves as a warning to me not to take anything stated here at face value and to always try to read between the lines to see what tricks are being played behind the curtain. That's all. "Caveat emptor" and all that jazz. |

Even if The Munchkinomicon would never be available again, you can still get it for its retail price. The person who paid $18 got ripped off, for sure, but it's not the fault of anyone at SJG. They just failed to shop around.
