The Future of The U-42 stupid stupid mistake
Dear Fictional Fact Checking Editor
I was a-reading of your wonderful piece on the future of the U-42 when I came across something that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and my teeth grind together in frustration, to wit, the use of antibiotics to treat a virus. This is something up with which I will not put. The key you see is in the name, antibiotics treat bacteria, antivirals treat viruses and unfortunately weren't around until the 60's although I'm sure Nazi science sneers at the history of medicine. Regardless, my point remains the same, an antibiotic, no matter how wondrous or clever cannot treat a viral infection. It is this kind of careless thought that has lead to the evolution of super bugs that are immune to conventional antibiotics. Every time you go to the doctors and get needlessly prescribed antibiotics to treat a viral cold you are dooming the future generations of this planet to death and destruction as medical treatments become ineffective. And instead of choosing to enlighten the general public you have added to the sea of ignorance - I hope you're happy with yourself. Disgusted Of Wales P.S. Wouldn't it be fun if all replies were also in the the style of letters to the tabloid editor. |

Oddly enough, no.

Sorry, but I'm afraid the moneys paid to us by the antibiotic companies (to promote unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions) far outweighs your subscription contribution. Seriously, how did you think Pyramid stayed in business at these low prices? Volume? No, it's all kickbacks, baby. We realize that this will surely cause several of our readers to perish ahead of schedule, but the potential impact on revenue falls within the bracket of "acceptable losses." Enclosed please find one coupon for $5 off your next prescription of Zithrocillin. Remember, it's flu season, and taking Zithrocillin in advance is easier and cheaper than a flu shot! Happy Holidays, Pyramid (a wholly owned subsidiary of DrugPharmaMedCo, Inc.)
