Re: Art for games
Thanks!
I will probably keep posting these as I make them, since it alleviates some of the urge to show players before the critter comes out in play. I am not familiar with Digger, but if it has hyena people, I am in favor of it. Here's that unicorn I mentioned a while ago. It's about this big. I think that a kappa and some stirges are in my future. Then maybe trolls, minotaurs, bugbears and hobgoblins. I'm going to follow the example of my betters and run a Keep on the Borderlands adaptation in GURPS DF. |

Re: Art for games
You know what? I feel like [something very unpleasant] for not doing this earlier.
First and foremost, Mark Skarr and Bruno, and all the others who contributed to this thread. You have my heartfelt thanks and eternal gratitude. The story is, very briefly; started off with stuff like DS, moved to modeling and sculpting. Asked my wife and my sister (classic atelier artist and industrial designer with an outstanding command of 3D modeling software and a good eye, respectively) how to improve myself in modeling and sculpting. More precisely, I asked them how to gain more insight into lighting, value, material differences, what to capture in a scene, etc. Unsurprisingly (now; then, I didn't have the foggiest) my wife told me to find a classic drawing class. My sister seconded. At the age of 35, I found a new passion. It has been about 6 (8?) months now and I've been learning to draw and loving it! Again, thank you. When I have anything other than study pieces (had to buy another 1 TB just to keep my sculpts and sketches) I'll post them. Cheers...

To start with Digger, go here: http://www.diggercomic.com/?p=3 . The hyena people will show up after a while, but to start, it's wombats, humans, Ganesh, and Shadow Child...

Re: Art for games
Thank you! Appreciation from a unicorn collector is very flattering!
Also, I made a kappa. My campaign began tonight, and the PCs decided to befriend this dude by offering him beer, which he eventually upended into his mouth, spilling the water from his head. When the swashbuckler poured water in from the stream, they had made a new ally. |

Re: Art for games
Just so long as he doesn't go for their souls by way of, well... *cough* *waves vaguely at kappa stories*
Lovely work!

Re: Art for games
I try very hard to run a family friendly faux-medieval murder-hobo game, and my wife keeps trying to adult it up. I just hope she doesn't do any research before next session.

Re: Art for games
Considering some of the stuff I found... yes, definitely hope she doesn't do the research. Kappa are kind of mind-bogglingly weird. In an adult way.
