Deliberately trying to avoid Astropic speaking, I say, "Hey, Gentle Arms, can you hear me?"

Then I'll just ask the Starpus directly, "So can you see or hear things from outside the tank, or is it only the speaking?"

The starpus don't react. You can see them, and since you can sense their locations, get a general idea of what they actually look like.

Then I'll just ask the Starpus directly, "So can you see or hear things from outside the tank, or is it only the speaking?"

Pleasant Caller: "We see things outside the tank. We hear stuff too. I see you! What are the others? You've got that Fidget still with you."

All that and now I'm a phone... I begin relaying messages.

I'm not going to run all of these, but introducing Royal feels in order.

"OK, maybe you could do better on the physical security front. But, how far can Astropics speak? Sure, I could lie to them. But who's to say that you can keep every Astropic far enough away from the Starpus? They might not believe Concordance Astropics, for now. Without actual truth, the Concordance could say anything to turn them against you."

Well, Pleasant Caller's response does naturally lead into introductions... I assume that Seven is calling in, per usual. I'm not sure how many of the nameless other workers are around, so I'll go with X.

"Yeah, that fidget's still here. There are X fidgets around maintaining the tank for the moment. One is a fidget who's trying to figure out exact how speakers work. The remaining person is my boss. She wants to get to know you, so I'm going to relay her messages to you. Is that OK with you?"

"Reef" wants to know the names of all the Starpus, and asks questions about their daily routine, what they usually talk about to each other, what they think of the tank (Its small and strange), and she tells them about her job arranging for them to have a new ship. It takes a while, and then Royal tells Julian to take a break.

Not interesting unless you want to ask about specific stuff. The timeline on the ship wasn't mentioned: One interesting specific detail is Royal says she has multiple people who want to provide things for the starpus. They're clear that without the full 9 they're useless.

Is Julian actually tired from all this?
