Using Perk to stow Crossbow in 1 second?

The crossbow user in my PC group wants to know if there's a quick way he can get his crossbow "put away" after firing it. I'm considering a few options:

1] the crossbow sling from DF-has anyone ever used it? If so, how'd it work in the game?

2] Modifying the Gun Fu perk Quick-Sheath (Long Arm) for crossbow use. My only concern is the perk says to add one second if stowing on your back-which means it'd still take 2 seconds to put the crossbow away!? That doesn't seem to help much; or am I missing something?

The sling stats:

"Weapon safely re-slings itself when dropped (a free action)."

Which means putting it away is as fast as just letting it go. A free action does not take up a turn.

This means they can shoot then drop it, all in the same turn.
