Is the Mighty Pen a weapon?
Hello
I equip a 1 handed Mighty Pen (1-Hand Magic Thingie) and I was in a room that double any weapon I had equipped. They didn't think the pen was a weapon so I didn't get the bonus which I needed to kill the monsters. So my question is, is the Mighty Pen a Weapon or not? |

Re: Is the Mighty Pen a weapon?
I had the same question myself when I first saw the card, and I decided it's not one. The glossary defines Weapons as Swords, Spears, Axes, Maces, Bows, Daggers and Clubs, in addition to things actually marked as Weapons. Thingies are defined as Items that don't fit into other categories. Seeing as Weapon is a category, a Thingy is not a Weapon.
The Hands section on page 16 of the rules also mentions that there are weapons "and other things" that require Hands, so being 1-Handed does not make it a Weapon either. In fact, now that I look through my database, it is the only thing that uses Hands that isn't a Weapon, which makes the point even stronger as there would be no 'other things' otherwise.

Re: Is the Mighty Pen a weapon?
In short, a Weapon is marked as a Weapon on it. If it doesn't say Weapon among its keywords, it's not a Weapon, and the Mighty Pen does not say it's a Weapon.

Well I also have other 'weapons' that don't have weapon label on it either, like some holy dagger but we assume it's still a weapon.

Re: Is the Mighty Pen a weapon?
I think what MunchkinMan meant to infer is that if it isn't marked as a Weapon and it isn't marked as one of the other things that the Glossary entry for Weapons mentions are also Weapons (which I listed above), then it's not a Weapon.
