OOC: Assuming that we are in neutral terms with the goblins, it would be interesting to reach the next group of enemies (e.g., the bandits) and go for the next level in difficulty. Bain is looking at the updated map, but if you prefer cartography instead of navigation, it would be (12) 8.

Bain puzzles over the map for a little bit, before pinpointing the bandits’ cave and then locating the cave entrance that belongs to an orc tribe…or used to, according to the goblins. They claim the orcs that lived there were exterminated by undead and the bandits on orders by some sinister people. They warn of gross rotting corpses and the vermin that feast on such. The cave is located at the north side of the first elevated ridge (about 10 to 15 yards higher than the ground of the canyon), the cave opening is seemingly plain one.

Is this a cave we went into before?

If not, Telrith says onward!

(OC: No, this is a new one. Does the rest of the party consider it worth a look?)

OOC: The bandit cave sounds like a good idea, IMO. Gathika, Vicious?

(OC: majority votes say new cave!)

The adventurers climb up the slope and onto the dirt path along the canyon wall, following it to their destination; a cave opening.

The cave itself LOOKS ordinary enough. No movement can be glimpsed as they peer into the darkness.

It SMELLS startlingly terrible. Definitely something gruesome, deathly.

Most of the party can HEAR the faint rustling sounds of small rodents or perhaps dried leaves under foot.

The cave opening is 4 yards wide, and it seems the wide path leads straight ahead for more than 6 yards. Investigating further requires a light source.

Bain perceives a scent of death, and before entering the place, he says:
I think we should first send an elemental with a torch, but I have the impression these bandits could have something prepared for unwanted visitors. On the other hand, Telrith, can you detect any poisons in the air?

"I didn't get any elementals today." Telrith huffs. "We should have done this while I had four. It's going to have to be me and Vic, side by side, and we'll need to be ready for a fight."

He inspects the cave for magical dangers ... success on Hazardous Materials (Magical) by 3.

There are no curses or blights in the area that Telrith can detect. Unholy magic should leave a stronger trace than anything untoward here.
