Vassarious aligns themselves with the approaching whip wielder and when they close to 7 yards, Vassarious hurls three shuriken from each hand at them,

Remember, the gryphons are transformed humans...


The shots are fired at 10 meters... so -4 to hit. That's four hits on the left, a jammed riffle at the center, and three hits on the right.



The left gryphon dodges with a 5, avoiding all four hits. The one on the right dodges two hits, and takes a bullet dealing 21 damage. This is a major hit, but not enough to knock it down (these gryphons are horse sized, with ST 24 and corresponding HP). Its slowed though.



I'm not sure that Matrix's post is a complete set of actions, and I don't understand his comments on the to hit roll. what does this mean?

A roll of 14 is a success by 1.
with RCL 1, a success means 1 hits and the margin of 1 adds a second hit.

The same result of 2 hits was reached for each attack, so 4 hits total... Those would be 2 bursts of 2 rounds, with the defense at -1 for DWA

I had said they were concentrating on Flying leap, but I don't think I can use it to leap step back... but I will if I can!

Ok, that makes sense.


The Whip Weilder dodges all four projectiles.. one of them only by a hair. (dodge rolls are 7 and 10)

Yeah, flying leap doesn't really feel like a "step"


At 5 yards away the Whip strikes (rolled an 8) to wrap around one of V's arms... roll defense at -1!



The glaive wielder couches it like a lance and tries to hit Halcyone in the chest as the gryphon leaps forward! (rolled a 12) roll defense at -1. If hit take 2d6+2 (11) impaling damage.



The big beefy guy's gryphon has been hit: he leaps off of it, displaying dangerous grace for his bulk. The gryphon steps back away from the battle.



Yi steps forward towards his opponent, still ready to strike.



And as I didn't follow up on this before, yes, the gunfire spooks the horses. hopefully they'll stay out of the way.

Vassarious dashes in toward the attack with an astonishing speed and snatches the end of the whip between their hands. Doing a quick turn, they heave with their considerable might, attempting to pull the weapon from the attackers grasp!

This required some reading to follow, but I figured it out. I'm seeing an effective parry of 13= 7 (skill/2) + 1 (Combat reflexes) +2 (enhanced parry) + 3 ("retreat"). it doesn't matter for this roll, it succeeds either way.

the warrior dodges with 13 and 9, reducing shots taken by 2. That's 108 pi damage to the torso. The warrior has high pain threshold, but that's a lot of damage. Somehow, he remains upright and on his griffon (a lot of HT rolls... he has at least an effective 16)


He stabs the Glaive at Halcyone again, with the potential to hit again (-3 to defend this time), rolled a 12. Potential Damage is 9.


Big guy moves to within 3 yards of Yi, sword in one hand, melee net in the other.

Vassarious has Karate 16, and parry is (1/2 skill +3) for 11 then +1 for Combat reflexes, and +2 for Enhanced Parry bring it to 14

Our situational modifiers add +3 for the retreat, bringing it to 17, and -1 to the defense was specified in your post for a total of 16.

Vassarious uses another slip towards their opponent while parrying the net and closing the distance to 2 yards on the defense,

Vassarious then launches another double handful of Shuriken
DWA - Throwing Art 15+Acc 3 = skill 18
