"Well, being a prisoner makes me want to leave as soon as possible. I'd like to go back home to my world, but I don't usually get to pick where I end up."


Peter resists the urge to start asking questions about their practice of abducting people... All the gods he knows about back home would likely frown on kidnapping... maybe their gods are angry about it. But he realizes if he suggests this they may just think he's coming up with a story to thwart them, so he decided to keep holding his tongue until he's had a chance to actually attempt some investigation.

"I think we'll find him if we retrace the way to where we met and then back toward where they took me... I think he's been trying to follow me, and he's a really good tracker. It's totally possible he'll come running if I go to the door outside and call him."

"You don't get to choose... could you explain a bit more... we may be able to help you get home as part of the deal..."

"My power is finicky... I think it takes me where I am needed most of the time, instead of where I might want to go. You don't have to worry about sending me home.

"How do you usually do it? If you have incense or rituals that make your contact easier, it may be helpful... But I'm going to be working by trial and error and experimentation. I'm not sure how long it will take. "

"Hmmm. How is your memory? How far back do you remember?"

"How do you usually do it? If you have incense or rituals that make your contact easier, it may be helpful... But I'm going to be working by trial and error and experimentation. I'm not sure how long it will take. "

"We will revisit this question in a week then. For now, you need priestly books, the occasionally consultation, and various incenses. And perhaps access to temples. Is that a good summary?"


Peter allowed to go out and look for Goliath. He calls for a few minutes, and then hears the dog barking.



He's been assigned an "Escort" who has strict instructions not to let Peter out of his sight. The man is armed with a ray gun and a few other devices whose purpose Peter isn't sure of. He's also been assigned a room near a temple... which means quite a bit farther into the city. Its normally for "novice priests", but they don't seem to have many of those.

Peter tells him he thinks he has a pretty good memory and recounts something from when he was very small...

He adds some paper and writing materials to the things he will need.

He makes no attempt at escape, but certainly rushes toward the barking when he hears it, as fast as his escort will allow.

Tuvo Kyridas purses his lips deep in thought when Peter demonstrates his memory.



Peter meets Goliath, with the escort coming close behind. The dog is quite enthusiastic in his greeting of the boy.



"That's a big dog!" He sounds a little intimidated.

Peter runs up and hugs Goliath, tumbling to the ground with him.

"Hi Boy! I missed you! Did you have a big dirty rat for dinner last night? Didja?" Peter laughs as Goliath licks his face, both of them overjoyed at the reunion.

Peter gets up and makes a circular motion with his hand and points down... Goliath runs in a tight little circle around the boy and sits at his side where Peter pointed and looks up at him.

"G'boyyy" Peter says and scratches him on his head.

Peter tells his escort they should get Goliath some food and water. Once Goliath's needs are seen to, He's ready to set about his research.

In the coming days, he spends time in meditation and research and trying to attune to the magic here and concentrate on these gods, and by night he tries to summon their sigils and images in his mind and focus his dreams in the hopes of communication or a useful vision. (...or even a 'jump' to their nearby plane of existence!)

If he is able to talk with priests, he will ask them how they would commune with their gods, and what it is like for them when it was working.

Goliath jumps up and down, and when provided with food, wolfs it down with relish. It seems Peter has a budget... or rather his escort has a budget that can be spent on his behalf. Goliath's food comes out of that. It is suggested he might want some better clothing.

He's led to his new home, beneath the slowly turning gears in the sky. The Escorts on him rotate, each on duty for about four hours before switching for some other duty.

He's in the priest's quarters, so finding a priest to talk to should be easy. He's able to talk to one of them soon after arriving.

The priest ("Yurimon") has a long pointed beard with just a touch of grizzle, but wears his hair short. Yurimon looks at him, considering.

"There are three things that matter when contacting a God. Location, Ritual, and Personality. Gods are more likely to hear and respect petitions when they are given in places that belong to the diety... temples, altars, dedicated groves, and so forth. They also pay more attention and give more respect when their rituals are followed and they are given proper respect and obeisance. The person asking also matters: A priest is a good choice of course, but some people have a natural attunement with the divine, if they are ordained or not. And being a great man matters as well: it is more useful to be a city father than a novice in the temple."

"But don't forget, they can listen and appear anywhere and anytime they choose... or don't choose."

"Have you never seen a manifestation? Where did you grow up!" He glances at the escort.

He thanks any who help him...

"No, but I haven't been here long. Sufficed to say, I'm not from around here!"

Peter asks around and tries to determine the best place and conditions, and what rituals to use to try and reach out to the god of dreams, as he feels he probably has the best affinity for that domain with his background.

"A manifestation... The god appears, and you can feel the power coming off of them on your skin. Some of it is heat and light and vibration, but some of it is something deeper... I can't explain it. And then they say or do what they came to say or do. Most of the time they're just saying something, or giving a gift. You feel that in your chest. And then they're gone. They generally don't walk around, just appear, do their thing, and then leave."

Thuroma has a small structure dedicated to Kal-Mor, somewhere between a large shrine and a small temple. It has three main areas: an altar for offering gifts, a courtyard for gatherings, and a bed under a statue of the diety.

Peter is able to get his hands on a book outlining the rituals of Kal-Mor. There are three obvious things to try:

• A simple supplication with incense and chanting. (there are around five of these, though they seem similar).
• The sacrifice of an animal with chaotic coloring.
• Sleeping in the temple overnight.
