(IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]

"Luring them away one at a time with your Karana... that could work. We still do not know the best way to kill them. It seems they must loose all of their smoke. Perhaps guns are not the best way to injure them... but I do not want to fight them with a sword much more"


"It is strange how bestial they are. The stories tell of an army with spears, swords, and other weapons. This is a loose collection of animals shaped mostly like men."


"I had hoped to avoid bringing Mr. Pundell into it. Though if he is carrying the key, he has not been honest with us. Not that I expected him to have been, but I did not think he was that close to the secret."


"Do you think we reveal both of our hands and force a deal, or shall we invent some strategy to obtain the key?"



After about 10 minutes or so, Peter builds a fire and makes a bird Karana. The bird spots another two signal fires, and they're able to meet up with the hands.



Sojala and Ravneet are enthusiastic when they meet up with the boys, asking questions quickly in their native language. Anil answers, and then he switches to english: "Peter believes Mr. Pundell has a stone talisman that will enable us to control the demons... But we have found them! and they last! We are so close!"

"I'm guessing they are animalistic because they don't have a human leader in control."

"I'm willing to do whatever you think is best. This is your destiny, and I'm, kinda proud to help you realize it, but the way you handle Mr. Pundell and the expedition... I think it should be your call. You know the players best and you're the one who has to deal with everyone after this plays out, ya'know?"

"We could use more men or the Karana users to make our own warriors and overwhelm them with numbers after drawing them out." Peter offers.

Once they regroup with the others, Peter offers to help Sojala however he can using first aid for his injuries.

Anil: "We have the advantage because we know more than he does, but he thinks he knows more than we. We should should keep the advantage... and come up with a way to find the key, or to find out what he knows about it.

Anil: "Probably more men... I was not expecting a fight when we found the circle, but we probably can pick off these beasts one by one. We may even be able to land a hit on each one and then retreat to let its smoke slowly dissipate"

Once they regroup with the others, Peter offers to help Sojala however he can using first aid for his injuries.

Sojala is happy to have someone properly splint his leg.



Anil: "We need a story for this injury other than a fight with the legendary Karaka Demons"

"Well, all kinds of accidents can happen on the trail, especially on terrain like this... We should ask Sojala what he wants the story to be... I wouldn't want to make up something that might be embarrassing."

"if we are not going right back, maybe I should get a gun and a little practice with it."

Peter's thoughts are a flurry with stories and plots to swipe the stone, but he tries to push them back, not being fond of the idea of lying and stealing... but he laughs at himself just a little bit since he has ad to do quite a bit of both on this strange journey through dreams.

Sojala: It will be embarrassing regardless. either that or it will be suspicious, which is worse. I'll say a branch knocked me off my horse. but it will be a short term thing. I'll be able to talk about fighting a demon hand to hand soon enough."

From a meta-game perspective: the ball is in your court. You are the PC.



They arrive back in camp. Mr. Pundell is out on his own trip, you discover. Everyone is anxious to eat some hot food, and Sojala to get his leg looked after.

Anil has a few thoughts about getting the stone frog:


"Have you seen it well enough to make an Karana copy? If Mr. Pundell sees me with one he will check where his is, and then we will know."


"Could you make a spy animal to watch Mr. Pundell, and see where he keeps the talisman?"


"I'm open to any ideas you have as well, of course."

"Yeah, at first I was thinking I'd be more accurate with the bow, since I have some experience, but getting off a shot with a gun is quicker, and it's probably best I know how to handle whatever..."

Peter considers their options...

"I can make spies or decoys, sure... but my first instinct is to just talk to him and maybe make some kind of a deal. Big things are going to follow the discovery and if we make a mistake and start a war or something... I don't want that on our conscience."

Anil: "What, say 'I know you have a key to Karaka circle we don't have, and we have a key that you don't'? I suppose that could work... You think there is a possibility this doesn't end in war at this point?"


Do you want to learn pistols or long-arms?

"I hope not... you think that war is a given? We are talking about a lot of power here. How would Mr. Pudell's people use it? Is it different than how your family is going to use it?"

Peter would prefer a pistol if one is available to practice with, but he'll use whatever he's given.

Anil: "War always happens, eventually. It may skip a generation, or a nation, but it always happens. Perhaps one day someone will conquer the world and convince everyone not to rebel, but I do not think that will be my day. My father has fought in wars, and has been fortunate to pick the correct side to protect my people. I hope to do the same."



"This army should make it much easier. The English always make more demands. More treasure, more men, more rules. With this army, they will have their men, they will have their treasure, they will have less leverage to impose their rules, and I and my people will have lost nothing. The army will probably end up fighting wars in India for the English, in their quest to do what has not been done and subdue all of it."


"Mr. Pundell... is a mystery to me. I believe he hopes to take the army and leave with it, taking more from my family and people. If he plans to use it in India or beyond I cannot say. I do not think he intends to hold his end of the bargain right now. To me or to his partners."


*** any particular thing you want with the empath? Anil is motivated by a mixture of selfishness and loyalty to his specific people, with a strong streak of real-politic. He's afraid his people will suffer, he's more afraid that he will loose his personal power, and he's looking at things from a very cold and calculating position. You haven't been able to get a sense of Mr. Pundell.

Peter would prefer a pistol if one is available to practice with, but he'll use whatever he's given.

Anil gets a brace of muzzle loading pistols for him to practice with.
