Enough of this tangent already, though. Are you going to separate out the advanced schools from the basic template?

Sure.

Tomorrow, though, probably. And perhaps after I give the Navy the old college try.

But it may well mean the majority of Imperial Marines are from the genetically engineered section.

TL9 can give:
ST 14 [40]; DX 11 [20]; IQ 11 [20]; HT 11[10].
Secondary Attributes: HP 17 [6]; Basic Speed 5.5 [0]; Move 5 [0]; Per 12 [5]; Will 11 [0]; FP 17 [18].

Which means the Imperial Marine stat block could be writen as:

Attributes: DX +2 [40]; IQ +1 [20]; HT +2 [20].
Secondary Attributes: HP +1 [2]; Will +1 [5];

Which isn't that impressive.

Probably not. Not unless genetic engineering can produce people with the right motivatinos and psych profiles.

Which I don't think anyone actively gengineers for, but the Imperials certainly breed for it and self-select for it. But most Marines are not native Imperials, they are colonials recruited into the service.

Not unless you assume being genetically engineered reduces the odds of having the right motivations and psych profiles. E.G:

Normal
Right motivations and psych profiles
1/100
Good enough ST
1/100
Good enough DX
1/100
Good enough IQ
1/100
Good enough HT
1/100

Candidate probability 1/10,000,000,000

Genetic modified (TL 10)
Right motivations and psych profiles
1/100
Good enough DX
1/10

Candidate probability 1/1,000

Odds are just for example, you should understand the princlple.

I expect it does. Most genetically engineered people are bred for a reason and it's not to become ruthless Imperial philanthropists.

Also, having one attrbute high correlates with them all being above average. And motivation correlates heavily with ability. So 'right psych' profile pretty much means that unless there's something majorly exotic wrong with the applicant, he's in.

Just for a point of comparison since it keeps coming up. Keep in mind that 40k marines are the greatest warriors of a million worlds before they get modified. Also, the emperor isn't undead, he's frozen in stasis at the exact moment of death. The problem is that being in stasis really prevents his mind from providing the psychic energy needed to power the beacon of the Astronomicon so the Tyranids can find earth...errr...I mean the ships of humanity can navigate in the warp.

40k Marines

ST 16, DX 12, IQ 10, HT 16

Hitpoints: 32

Torso: DR 12 (Black Carapace Implant)
Innate Attack: 1d6 Acid Jet (yes, most marines can spit acid and chew through steel bars)
Hard To Kill (wraps up the extra heart, lung, and so on)
Life Support: Vacuum Limited Duration 6 hours (That's right they actually take their helmets off in space, they secrete a waxy substance that seals their skin up)
Cast Iron Stomach (extra stomach too)

On the down side
Primitive TL 5 (Actually a generous assessment, marines aren't picked for their education)
Fanaticism
Blood Lust
Intollerance (Aliens, Hertics, New Ideas, Psychics)
Duty to the chapter all the time (no, not to the Imperium, the marines are pretty independant from the beauracracy)

The Bolt Gun is a fully automatic 25mm direct fire grenade launcher
The powered armor is TL 9 but often only covered in thick TL 7 steel plate

Probably PU: 2.

Unless I made a mistake and they're not official yet.
