Peter allows himself to be reassured that it wasn't a complete screw up, and tries to unclench.

Good to note. The dog is with him in the waiting area.

He looks them over to see if he recognizes anyone in the photos.

They ALL look like Slick. Some of them more than others. He points out the ones that look the most like him. The interviewer seems rather surprised. It seems Peter has passed some sort of test.

"So am I. I'm sorry, it's hard to explain. I think it's a frame of reference thing. Do you believe in psychics? I saw her in there, like I said... I just happened to be dreaming at the time. It's probably just easiest to assume I'm crazy, and use the evidence I'm pointing out, but don't rely on me for testimony. No one will believe me AND I will probably vanish into thin air before we got to court. For real."

Powell: "You do know I and most of the rest of the department think you're part of an activist group? I suppose if you disappear and force us to rely on hard evidence its probably for the best. This is going to be a long and messy court case. Are you worried about being attacked, or are you worried you're going to end up prosecuted and wish to remain mostly anonymous?"

"Anonymous is probably simplest."

"My one and only worry right now is that when I disappear, that girl won't have the best possible outcome. Mr. Powell, can I trust you to make sure she will?"

Peter will offer all the assistance he can, and try to make sure they have everything they need and tries to make sure they do not put off anything they need from him for tomorrow. He travels a lot after all.

"People will care, whether they should or not. Rumors of this have been going on for a long time. Lots of activists have been arrested tresspassing. Its... sort of biased the department against that kind of claim. You saw it. This episode... looks a lot of people in the police department look either incompentent or corrupt. If they can paint you as an activist, claims that this is a frame job will go a lot further."

"That's not the best way to persue justice, but I can understand why you'd want to do it this way. You do understand its my job to prevent that? No offense, but you're a key witness."

Once Peter has finished with assisting the police with the investigation, he will return to the sleeping arrangements offered by Ms. Pruitt. He will see if they have something for him and Goliath's dinner and then check out their version of the internet to learn more of the nuances of the place he might be able to include in this chapter of his book.

It takes some time to be done at the police station. He's given a small fob and told to have it on him at all times, as he is a witness.



Mrs. Pruitt asks if he found a job, but seems to have already heard about what happened via the police. She says they have a really good alarm system, so don't be worried about anyone coming for him in the middle of the night.



She has some good food: some sort of Chinese meatballs over a gooey mashed potatoes. Its unexpectedly good. Goliath gets a big plate of meat scraps.



Cretaceous-7 is in an "Earth-Solar-L5" orbit, Also known as the "midnight conglomerate" in the "seventh orbital" and "equatorial plane". The whole place seems to be on one time. The Can is one of thousands in the midnight conglomerate.


Anything else before he goes to sleep?

Peter has a nice chat with Mrs. Pruitt and tells her he had some ideas, but was sidetracked today. (Obviously!)

He thanks her for her concern and assures her that he isn't worried.

When Peter has read up a bit on the world, he will retire off to dreamland.

Peter sleeps... and Peter dreams


Peter dreams of a fur-covered humanoid monster, armed with teeth, claws, and powerful muscles. It slinks through tall fields of grain in the dark, looking for something... or someone, headed towards a sleepy village of thatch-covered daub houses. The terrain is rough, with mountain peaks and steep slopes covered in trees surrounding the fields. Something throbs inside the monster... something Peter can sense, even through his dream. Something akin to the instructions he gives Karana.

Peter reaches out to the feeling he is experiencing from the creature and sees if he can learn more from it... perhaps tap into it, communicate through it or otherwise somehow connect to it.

"Be at ease... can you hear me?" Peter emotes at the beast-man.

He tries to follow...

Reaching out... he doesn't feel anything he can effect, and he doesn't seem to be able to effect anything. The beast doesn't respond to his emotes either.

But he is able to follow it.


He follows it up the hill towards the village. He's following when the beast stops, slows, and starts creeping towards something. Peter spots a woman walking along a path... the beast seems to be interested in her.
