How to make a warp-duplication power?
So I wish to make a character that when he warps he leaves a duplicate behind, so it looks like he has not left. The duplicate has all of his gear. the gear looks and sounds the same, but does not effect the environment. (example: the duplicate throws a grenade. the grenade explodes, there is a loud noise, with smoke and fire, but no damage is done. leaving the enemy bewildered, but otherwise unharmed). The duplicate himself is also equally incapable of affecting his environment. The duplicate is also easily destroyed with only 1 hit point.

Link and Illusion (Powers p94) would seem capable of doing the trick.

Thank you, just one question. Would the fact that the illusion can only be a copy of the character be a limitation, and if so which one?

That's just a custom Accessibility limitation... I would give -40% for "only illusions of himself and what he is carrying" but ask your GM, your mileage may vary.

Accessibility is about under what conditions your ability is available to you, not about what it can accomplish, thus the usual values of accessibility don't apply to this limitation.
Illusion is an extremely flexible advantage. Limiting it to just one single possible illusion is thus a significant limitation. I'd be willing to go for Limited, Self Only, -80%. Don't forget Initiative so your doppel will act without your input being required. Add Area Effect if you want the doppel to be able to move around or throw things without them disappearing. |

Re: How to make a warp-duplication power?
Here's an interesting Limitation to this power: Can only warp to switch places with other illusory duplicates. These duplicates must appear at least one second before the real person. An interesting side-effect would be that sometimes an enemy attacking the illusion will hit the real target.
With or without this extra limitation, this sounds like a neat enhancement to give one of my favorite metahumans, Regiment from Mixed Doubles. Last edited by oldgringo2001; 10-17-2012 at 01:40 PM. |
