Modeling an ability to see all sides of things
I’m creating a character whose perception has been expanded by reading an eldritch tome. Now the character can “open their third eye” and perceive their surroundings as if from a higher spatial dimension. Any objects might as well be unfolded and laid flat. (I was inspired by a Mage: the Awakening spell I read once.)

Re: Modeling an ability to see all sides of things
Sounds like a variant on 360° Vision. If you can use it to see all sides of any one object or person, but only if it's in your normal field of view (that is, you can't see behind you or anything), I would probably call it +0%.
You might instead look at it as a variant of Clairsentience, though I'm not sure exactly how to do that.

That's a fairly extreme version of this, but a modified Detect can let you 'see' everything possible about an item, just remove things like Time-spanning and Long-Range. |

Maybe 4D Spacial Sense and Hypervision from Powers: The Weird are worth a look?

Re: Modeling an ability to see all sides of things
In 3e, it was "sense of perception " from Lensman.
In 4e, there is no exact match but builds based on clairsentience / scanning sense / detect come close. Some suggestions in this thread : http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=74939 Last edited by Celjabba; 10-31-2021 at 08:31 AM. |

Re: Modeling an ability to see all sides of things
Area Perception from GURPS Totems and Nature Spirits, p. 5 plus Clairsentience should be everything needed for this really.

Probably still worth a look at those other sources, especially the thread Celjabba pointed to. |

Re: Modeling an ability to see all sides of things
Those two Powers references sound possible, but I’ll have to check my book-buying budget.
I’ll check out clairsentience. How much would clairsentience be worth if you can only project to a point within your normal line of sight? Last edited by clu2415; 10-31-2021 at 09:08 AM. |
