Cassandra will happilly fire away!

Ideally at targets without shields.

She will stick near the friendly archer, but not close enough to be fireballed together with him
Fight starts at 100 yards.

TURN 1
Cassandra and her ally fast draw and nock arrows
3 enemy archers fast draw and nock arrows.
Fireball summons a fireball.
six skeletons at 95 yards in front of you.
three enemy warriors at 100 yards in front of you (spear and shield, sword and shield, glaive)
Three allied warriors (two glaives and a sword and shield) at 3 yards in front of you.
Horseman at 42 yards to the left (moved 8 towards you)
Two archers and Four warriors are 100 yards to your left, and spend this turn becoming aware of the action.

TURN 2
Cassandra and her ally draw their bows
3 enemy archers draw their bows
Fireball aims at someone... Cassandra?
six skeletons at 91 yards in front of you.
three enemy warriors and Wings are 96 yards in front of you (spear and shield, sword and shield, glaive)
Three allied warriors (two glaives and a sword and shield) at 3 yards in front of you.
Horseman at 26 yards to the left (moved 16 towards you)
Two archers are 100 yards to your left, and draw and nock their arrows.
Four warriors are 96 yards to your left, moving towards you.

TURN 3
Cassandra and her Ally start aiming (cassandra at fireballs)
Fireballs aims a second second
The Enemy Archers start aiming
six skeletons are 87 yards in front of you
three enemy warriors and wings are 92 yards in front of you
Horseman at 10 yards away to the left and slowing down
Two archers are 100 yards to your left, and draw their bows
Four warriors are 92 yards to your left, moving towards you

TURN 4
Cassandra and Ally Aim (2 seconds)
Fireballs aims (3 seconds)
Enemy archers aim (2 seconds)
Flanking archers aim (1 second)
Skeletons at 83 yards in front
Enemy warriors and wings at 88 yards in front.
Horseman 2 yards to your left
Three allied warriors 3 yards in front
Four Allied warriors 88 yards to your left.

TURN 5
Fireballs attacks Cassandra:
Skill 11 - 10 (range) + 4 (hex targeting) + 3 (aim) = 8 ... rolled a 9, its a miss.
Cassandra and Ally Aim (3 seconds)
Enemy archers(3 at 100 yards forward) aim (3 seconds)
Flanking archers(2 at 100 yards left) aim (2 seconds)
7 skeletons at 79 yards to front
Enemy Warriors (3) and Wings at 84 yards to front
Horseman and three allied warriors 3 yards to front
Four allied warriors 84 yards to your left

TURN 6
Lots of Arrows!
Casssandra shoots at fireballs:
Skill 16 - 10 (range) + 3 (acc) + 2 (aim) = 11 ... rolled a 10, its a hit!
Fireballs fails the first dodge roll... and the lucky amulet breaks, and the arrow misses... but one layer of defenses is gone.
Cassandra's ally shooter is also shooting at fireballs
with a roll of 16, that's a miss
The enemy archers are more interested in shooting at enemy warriors:
General range penalty is -5, they roll 9, 8, and 10... good rolls... the second two are potential hits. Their targets are taking all out defense at the moment. The second one dodges.
The hit rolls max damage. The armor takes some of the edge off, but 8 injury is a lot. Warrior makes his roll.
The flanking archers aim (3 seconds)
7 skeletons at 75 yards to front
Enemy Warriors (3) and Wings at 80 yards to front
Horseman and three allied warriors 3 yards to front
Four allied warriors 80 yards to your left

Anoras will take Stripes's mask and put it away for safe keeping. And who knows, maybe she'll recognize the man.
This sorcerer is not someone she knows.

There are some groans, and noises of assent. You have three prisoners, three got away, and one is dead.

I don't think you have any new wounds to treat, though all the prisoners are feeling very sick.

Since she left Haunden, Anoras has of course gathered various medical herbs at different times in different places. If she has anything that can help neutralize the painful effect, she and whoever is qualified to help her can give the sick prisoners that. If not, they can give something to help the prisoners feel better.

Rolling... She doesn't have an antidote. She does have herbs that will help ease the effect just a little.

Gerrund walks over with the other sword and shield. "Everyone who was here when you came is safe. I think we just have minor cuts and bruises. Can his apprentices use these marks?"

He holds out his hand, but the mark is fading already. They're safe from the apprentices.

"What's your plan for the monsters who kidnapped us? You got them to surrender, but now what?"

Belansi: "We're deep in Venasir territory. We need to get back home to safety."

Long story short: no one can hit anything. on either side. Lots of 16s. One 5 that isn't a critical hit and gets blocked by a shield.

She and whoever's helping her will do so. (She might know about the placebo effect. If someone believes something will make them feel better, it often will. I think the medical verification of it working is relatively modern, but I think the concept goes back a long, long time.)

(So she won't mention the "just a little" part.)

Anoras (speaking in Venasir): "This will help ease the pain and help you get through this."

Anoras (speaking in Haunden): "Thank the gods they are safe. And good question, Gerrund. Everyone who speaks Haunden! The answer is no, the apprentices cannot use the mark on your hands, which should be fading already."

Anoras (speaking in Haunden to Gerrund, Belansi, and the others): "I do not believe these warriors are monsters. The monsters are the sorcerers Fireball and Wings, and the one lying over there (points to Stripes). I think the others were just following orders.

But hear this: Cassandra carried a sign I carved in Venasir to show to Holidor. The sign says:

"'Warning: Fireball and Wings plan to meet Stripes with others to attack Holidor castle a day or so from now. Cassandra, and the mystics' prisoners, including the giant Thad, can help Holidor prevent the attack. -- Healer Anoras.'

"Holidor didn't attack us; Stripes ordered these warriors to attack. But if Holidor sees we're marching in to help save it from an attack? I imagine we may be able to return to the friendly old days, and be much more prosperous than we are now.

"Sadly, though, Thad is no longer with us. He died as a brave, honorable warrior."

Anoras can feel the other villagers staring with scorn as she gives the prisoners medicine.

Belsani: "I think they signed up to do this. They're not from Holidor. They joined the band of a wandering sorcerer, which means they intended to pillage, plunder, and torture their way across the countryside. The Venasir are Wicked for even tolerating the sorcerers. These ones who travel with one? irredeemable. They'll just find more evil work to do"

Gerrund: "They did surrender. The expectation is that they will be let live, more or less. Of course, they would not extend the same privilege to us. The Venasir in Holidor might."

Old Man Trendil: "If they are enemies of the Holidor, they might be useful as a gift."

Belsani: "That would send them into slavery."

Trendil: "then that would be the crime of Holidor, not of us."

Timar: "Or we could slit their throats."

OOC: GM, you're not making this easy for me, are you? Seriously, I enjoyed the dialog!

Anoras (speaking in Haunden): "I believe you all have points. So let's join them all together.

"Gerrund is right. As they surrendered to us, for us to kill them wouldn't be true to the principles of Haunden warriors.

"Belsani is right that they apparently aren't from Holidor. And is right that we don't know what they might do later on.

"Old Man Trendil is right. It would not be dishonorable to return the Venasir to their own people. What happens after that is not our responsibility. Their conflicts with each other are their own.

"Timar is right that it would be possible to slit their throats. But after they surrendered, that would violate the principles of the honorable Haunden warrior. So as I am a warrior, we cannot do that." (Code of Honor and Stubbornness kicking in.)

"Let us secure them and assign guards as they did to Haunden.

"I and anyone else who has medical training can make sure all the Haunden wounds are minor and don't need treatment. I already did some checking of course, but we can do a quick check just to be certain.

"Then, after we are fully rested, we can head to Holidor."
