Something else to consider for cosmic speedsters: Ignoring inertia for people they save. If you pick up a person about to be hit by a car and accelerate to 500mph to save them, you've just killed them unless your "speed aura" extends to everything you carry/touch. Similar with doors you open while speeding and guns you disassemble.

I think the hypothetical perk would only apply to your clothes and small equipment. For more than that I whink it would require not only the Force Field Enhancement, but also Affect Others. Your possibility it's too much powerfull for only 1 pt.

I thought about it, but as I just wanted something to affect the clothes and small objects, I thought it would be too expensive for such a small detail.

I know I said that points does'nt matter, but if I can do with less without getting weird or out of the concept, I'll prefer the second option.

For most games free or a perk would be fine. If you want to charge more however that's fine but remember the rule of fun.
If I were to have someone buy a FF or nusicnce avoidance enhancement, and definitely if I went so high as affects others I would make sure it came up in play. And make situations where it comes up you can do something cool others may not be able to.

My universal answer to speedsters:

Altered Time Rate! (Wildcard power)

At 400cp per level you have 100cp per level to use. Need to move faster? Enhanced move 5. Want to hit harder? Striking ST +20. Want to not kill people while saving them? You got 100cp to figure out what you need. And you are still using ATR.

(I created the Flash using ATR! at level 5 or 6 I think. )

Depends if it's selective or not. If you can't use your abilities offensively either it's pretty much neutral.

In GURPS Supers, it says:

I usually I assume that this benefit is included in one of the two Cosmic versions in pages 26 and 27. One of this Cosmics Enhancements will protect against the friction (and the heat caused by friction), right? But what about the clothes?

I mean, without the proper Supersuit or uniform, all the clothes and possibly much of the equipment will overheat and will be damaged, as far I know.
Nah. Being immune to air friction would be totally useless if you're wearing clothes that aren't. Clothing damage for something with cosmic super move would have to be a nuisance effect on the CSM.

If you're going with "this annoyance doesn't happen to this character", it's really the place for a perk. As a comparative, the High Heels perk doesn't give any bonus to balance or the resilience of worn equipment, it just says "we let you wear heels and prretend that it doesn't matter".

Using any actual advantage (DR, cosmic, whatever) opens the door to using said feature for other stuff.

I'd normally assume that the advantage comes with the implied additional powers by default, and let players buy "ignites my clothes" as a limitation if they want. It just seems cleaner to me.

I tend to build the Flash and DC's other "Speed Force" speedsters with DR 1 (Force Field; Only When Using Another Ability) to handle this kind of thing. Then again, those are speedsters that routinely break the speed of sound or even the speed of light without worrying about friction or the resultant shockwave behind them.

More "realistic" speedsters -- such as Marvel's crop -- I also give some DR to, and indicate that their uniforms tend to be light armor to protect against the friction rather having them running in their very flammable civvies.

Yes, this... Normal usage shouldn't hurt you or generate nuisance effects resulting from normal usage. Most exotic abilities give you the ability to operate outside how reality normal works. It's not until you get outside of what the game effects the power lets you have that you need to start worrying about other consequences.

In this particular case, Enhanced Move is a movement power. As long as you don't collide with anything you should be good. If you impact something (pick it up, do a rescue) that would be a type of collision unless you can super humanly decelerate (Cosmic or using ATR).
