Default Virtual Tabletops set up for GURPS?

What's a good virtual table top set up to handle GURPS (amongst other games)?

Speaking from experience, MapTools is the way to go (for me, anyways). It's free, and powerful, and not set to a specific game. It does multiple maps, tokens with properties, macros, vision blocking layers, drawing, fog of war, day/night, initiative, etc...

I currently use it to run my GURPs Campaign. We started back in early 2009, and are currently on Gamenight #64. We play online, and use TeamSpeak for voice. It's about as close to real pen and paper gaming you can get online.

I have done a lot of custom stuff for my MapTools Gurps campaign. If your interested in using my framework, let me know.

MapTools and TeamSpeak, both being free and powerful, are great for my group. There are also several other virtual tabletops, some which require purchase. I have only used the demo versions of the others. I would guess that others here may be more informed about their products.

If you have any questions about MapTools, let me know.

Been playing GURPS via Fantasy Grounds; don't know if it's necessarily "the best," but it works well enough.

I've used Fantasy Grounds 2 a while back when a friend was trying to DM a game set in WW2 using D20 rules, so that's the only one I know.

What custom stuff for GURPS have you done for the other one? I might go for this; I like the idea of having built in mapping tools.

Well, I built my own macros for Ranged Shots, still working on the melee one, has the Hit Points / Fatigue Points system on tokens, all kinds of "state" graphics for tokens, etc.

Really, though, download it and watch the video tutorials. It's really good with a large community development. Its not that hard to use. In fact, when we first started using it, we use it as mainly a dice roller and map display as we slowly learn more about the features. Over the course of the campaign, as we learned more about it, we started tracking stats, storing inventory, building "Load-Out" macros, creating macros to determine Super Jump range, etc...

If not for virtual tabletops, my gaming days would probably be over.

I guess I ought to give you some links...

Here is the main website: http://www.rptools.net

Here is a neat example of a game: http://forums.rptools.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2637

[Why do I feel like a salesman.... you'd think I owned MapTools or something...]

[Edit: Check out the video on the game example link!]

You may want to check out:

One not mentioned is ScreenMonkey. I liked it for the simple reason that it runs as a webserver, so your players don't need clients. It's probably getting a little long in the tooth compared to the other ones though.

I've played with ScreenMonkey and found it quite useful for the reason you stated, only the GM needs the actual program, everyone else just connects with their web browser. Besides that and a pretty rudimentary VTT map it's not that great.

I've been considering simply using Pidgin with Pidgin Plugin Pack. It's not an out and out virtual table top, but all I'm really wanting is a dice roller it and the Plugin Pack supplies one.

There was a thread on this about a year ago
http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=51785

I came to the conlcusion that Maptool and Fantasy Grounds 2 were the way to go. Sadly, I Couldn't get either to work on my system due to the network settings. These settings I dare not mess with because my wife works off that wireless network, she who must not be angered!!

Oh well someday!
