Peter takes breakfast privately today, but the secretary (Pirfan) says he will arrange something for the future. No books from America have come back yet: he'll have to wait until all the prisoners are returned... another batch is on their way, it should just be the four old men remaining now.

Peter will go see them if he can and see if there are any more developments, and remind them he is hoping they can send him some textbooks.

Paterson, Cauldwell, Goslin, and Cardin are happy to see him. except for maybe Goslin. Patterson says Goslin had his heart set making some great sacrifice to stick it to their captors and the chance has been taken from him. Cauldwell says he'll get textbooks to Peter... and by the way, has he contacted his own family yet?

The plans of the four really haven't changed.

"I appreciate it! I was with my parents not too long ago. Mom is worried about my schooling while I bounce around the universe, so that's why I need the schoolbooks. They are not thrilled, but they know what I'm up to."

Having never revealed his last name to the Americans, Peter is not worried about these "Americans" bothering the Nichols family of their world if there is one.

Once he's met with the Americans, he is eager to elarn of they have made any trade agreements and if the conditions are improving for the Theromans.

Her will prepare for his next jump and let his dreams take him where they will when the time comes.

"Oh sure. The gods here actually have two worlds they usually hang out on besides this one, and I've been to more than one 'Earth'... I say worlds, but it's really more like dimensions or something, not like, planets, usually... but I was just on one where they said 'Old Earth' was another planet."

Something about his tone implies less than admiration.

No trade agreements have been made: the ones to negotiate are the four in this room, and they won't be released until Peter makes another round trip. Conditions aren't improving yet.

He eats dinner with a group of priests. They are unsure how to approach him. Most of them just glance his way. They seem to mostly be junior priests. One of them finally asks "Are you a priest or a servitor"?

The language seems to imply that a servitor would be a magical/divine creature.

If not admiration, what is he feeling?

"I'm not a priest or a servitor. To you guys I'm the Emessary. Tar-Billik sees me as and apprentice and calls me the 'little lost godling' which I kind of like."
