Shield Rush Questions
When doing a shield rush, your shield absorbs damage from the Slam dice to its HP. Presumably, any excess can still affect you, otherwise you could slam into things at supersonic speeds with a regular shield and never take even a point of damage.
Question is, should the value that needs to be exceeded be the shield's entire HP (a really high 60, plus DR 9 if the DR applies), or should this realistically be toned town to Cover DR for the shield (DR + HP/4 for shields, IIRC) which in most cases will still be a relatively high 24 points of protection - more than anybody not superhuman is ever going to be dealing under their own power anyway? Either way, given that some of the shock of impact is sure to be transmitted through the shield to your arm and shoulder, should this protection not be treated as Flexible? And finally, what about using other objects as improvised shields, not just to block attacks, but for doing shield rushes and thereby avoiding most of the damage to oneself from a Slam maneuver? I'm thinking here of some super picking up a car as a shield and slamming into a foe with it rather than throwing it. |
