Switched to Sorcery, please help me redo some spells
Rather than necromancy my own shadowrun thread, I'll just start a new one. Having discovered Sorcery, and the fact that someone else has done the heavy lifting of converting most of the magic book, I'm finding that most of my initial hesitation for Spells as powers has dissipated.
For the work I can't recommend this enough.https://enragedeggplant.blogspot.com...index.html?m=1 That being said I'm having trouble with the two shadowrun spells my mage player is adamant that he wants to keep. Here's the description of both. Fashion The spell tailors clothing, transforming garments into any style the caster wishes. It can only change the cut, color and fit. Weight does not change, and it must cover approximately the same amount of area. The caster must touch the clothing. Cost 4 Control Element (rare: Clothing) 2 20cp, Cosmetic only -80%, Sorcery -15%, Requires Roll -10% Makeover This spell creates a complete makeover for a voluntary subject, including cosmetics and hair, it will even polish teeth and eliminates plague. Changes are only as permanent as any done in a beauty salon. Cost 5 Morph 25, Cosmetic Only -50%, Retain Shape -20%, Sorcery -15%, Requires Roll -10% This is what I came up with

Fashion i something the Powers system doesn't handle directly. Slap a Cosmic mixed with a limitation on Shapechange or something like that.

Fashion is Control Clothing 2 (Occasional) with the Cosmetic modifier (-80%) for a base of 6 points before whatever sorcery modifiers you are using, and lets you refashion up to 40 lbs of clothing at one go. See Powers p 90-92.

I'd call Fashion a perk too. Quick-changing clothes to new outfits isn't really worth much by itself, it's basically a schtick. "Between scenes" costume changes seem a lot like the lesser Infinite Ammo, and therefore doing it magically "on-screen" is equivalent to full Infinite Ammo, and thus a perk.

Agree that Fashion is a perk. If you want to build it, then Telekinesis (One Skill Only, -50%; Reliability +10 +100% (?)) to make an instant Sewing roll seems in order. But I wouldn't bother with that.

These need to be set up so that they use an effect that's innately permanent (the perk interpretation should be like that) in the way healing is, or be some kind of affliction so that they don't lock the user out of all their other magic whilst they're in effect.

I wouldn't consider Fashion a perk, there is a lot of value in the ability to change clothes to suit your needs. But the price should be low enough to fall under those spells you can improvise, can't check the exact rules as I don't have the book atm

Then I would use the same rules as for "Haircut" (p. S14).

It's useful, but it's also trivially accomplished without magic. |

The thing that crosses my mind with Fashion is it could enable you to wear enchanted clothes that don't otherwise fit you. But that only matters if the GM is strict about that sort of thing.
