Re: 101 Ways To Kill A Molly
To be fair, some of these traps or enemies would do in most everyone. The question we should be addressing is what everyday encounter would quickly go south for Molly but others (especially other wizards) would do well?
After all, it is a churlish GM that plans an attack just to take out an annoyingly effective character, but it is a perfectly reasonable GM who presents threats commensurate to the party's abilities. So, Molly is out adventuring with three other 32 point characters. What situations would be especially difficult for Molly where other wizards would not mind? An obvious issue with Molly is her low strength and lack of ability to seriously contribute in melee without spells or zaps. Any situations in which it is unsafe to rest is a place a young Molly will be a waste of 32 points. She may do well in a typical labyrinth, but in a well-populated stronghold, where there are no safe hiding spaces for an hour's long rest, she will have issues. Regular small skirmishes are a problem for a low ST wizard. A more balanced wizard would also have problems, but could at least swing a staff reliably. Any other expected situations where Molly is especially vulnerable or useless? Low damage flyers smart enough to target a wizard come to mind. Fast missile weapons could perhaps do a number on her before she cast a defensive spell. Any situation where Molly is forced to cast a spell only to see the opponents retreat a short distance, waiting to ambush or to charge again if the party does not follow hurts a low ST wizard. |

smudging their pentagram right as they summon a demon... Though this may well get you killed too.

Re: 101 Ways To Kill A Molly
In the long term, promote a goblin ideal of strong, muscular Goblins.
In the field, a crossbow bolt in the back from an ally. In the Molly legendarium, the Molly is seldom encountered without either 2 Crossbow-wielding henchmen or a bevy of Aid-casting young apprentices. Suborning one of those poor, abused redshirt shouldn't take much beer/gold. |
