Default Bruce Sterling's TOMORROW: NOW!

Here's Tomorrow Now: Evisioning the Next Fifty Years, by Bruce Sterling. Why tag a seven to eight year old book to a cutting edge Sci Fi group?

Basically, having only gotten through the first three sections I realise that, for the clever Transhuman Space GM, Sterling's book is full of little details that would make a Transhuman Space setting so much cooler. The kind of throw away details that let the players know "They are in Kansas anymore!" Heck, the kind of details that will make them feel that Kansas isn't in Kansas ANYMORE!

A strange and demanding little book.

Its big take away for me is that we often think about the future in rather trivial ways. (Jetpacks!)

Which is why I think this book is so right for Transhuman Space, it can help you make a truely alien future that's as connected to the present as THS is supposed to be.

Plus the details on what terrorist entrepenures are, and will be, like, is pure RPG GOLD!!!

Cutting edge? Isn't Transhuman Space based on the now decades old work of Egan, Sterling, Macleod and others?

Science Fiction games tend to lag behind the literary fashion by a few years in general; Transhuman Space isn't an exception.

I'm sorry to have offended. I'll be more careful in future.

Resurrecting a post with suitable new content is fine, but bumping just to bump is not.

If even transhumanism is considered old, what can we view as a more modern topic in the SF genre today?

New Space Opera? I dunno I've been reading a lot of fantasy lately, so I'm not sure what is fashionable, right now.
