Re: House Rules for Exceptions to The Rule of Fives
You ignore the contradictory rule, just like when one opts to either ignore the rule to let Remove Thrown Spell remove Spell Shield or ignore the one that says it can't.

Re: House Rules for Exceptions to The Rule of Fives
It might be rather cool, colorful even, to let or require multiple wizards to cast one spell together at the same time, each paying that maximum of 5 if you wanted to enforce it. If the spell cost 50, then you'd need ten wizards.
Adjust the mechanics to suit your taste. Make them all chant the spell together and finish at the same time. Or line dance in unison as they chant. Make them all know that spell, or only require a principal caster that the rest just mimic. Decide if only the principal caster makes the DX roll, or require all of them to make their DX rolls -- if a single one goofs the spell fizzles, and everyone gets really angry at him. If a mosquito buzzes an apprentice or bites them on the nose, they must make an IQ roll to ignore it and keep going, else they mess up the whole thing and everyone has to start over. But perhaps allow that if extra wizards have joined in, say 12 casting a 50 fatigue spell, then a couple of them could afford to miss their rolls but the spell still succeeds if enough of them have contributed their 5 ST each. All silliness of course, but every adventure needs a spot of comedy.

Can you have 5 apprentices each casting a 5 point Aid? Plus a powerstone, plus your own strength. I think it's still possible.

So the wizard briefly has a ST score in the 30s? I have a clever proof of using a +2 Charm to self-Aid thousands of points of ST, but this margin is too small to contain it.
