No. Pretty mundane, really. Except for the fact that if you tie it to something from which you climb down, when you reach the bottom and then give the rope a sharp tug, the knot unravels and the rope falls down. Never happens when you are on it, only when you've finished climbing on it.

Why a manhole cover? Why not a chocolate buckler, or dinner plate? Does the manhole cover cover chocolate sewers?

It's probably a reference to a Larry Niven story called "What's the Use of a Chocolate-covered Man-hole Cover".

I wouldn't eat a manhole anyways. It covers a hole that is connected to a series of tunnels filled with human waste. Who knows how many fumes have covered the bottom of the common manhole.
