Default ISW, Ziru Sirka centered/POV campaigns

Has anyone run ISW with the PCs as soldiers, agents, or just citizens of the Ziru Sirka?

I think it would be fun to run a game with the PCs are soldiers fighting against the Terran invaders.

One idea I had was that the PCs are spies with the front of being a hero-class ship under vilani command visiting Terran space to gain information for the Imperium. The catch is that the players won't find out until long into the game that the barbarians they are spying on are from Earth.

They don't understand that Terra= Earth?

"You mean, my lord, we can call them the 'dirties'"

"Not in their presence mind you. They're awfully full of themselves, the dirties are".

That might be a surprise for the PCs, but I imagine the players would figure it out well before the whole 'dirties' thing.

Perhaps. Howabout using the Vilani word for earth? I still think "dirties" is kind of funny.

Oh, I do think 'dirties' is funny.

I just don't see the point in trying to fool the players.

Why not just say ''I want to run a game with the ISW background, in which you guys play agents of the Ziru Sirka. Interested?''

To reduce the chance of meta-gaming? (Note, I'm not saying that's an effective means of doing that, I'm just guessing.

Meta-gaming? How?

I don't see why it would be a bigger problem with this campaign than any other given campaign.
