iphone app support
Is this forum registered with any iphone applications? I haven't been able to find an app that lets one watch any forum that doesn't cost $10, but there are a few that allow forums to register their site and are part of the database. Two I found are:

Re: iphone app support
That's not what RadLilim was asking.
Tapatalk only works with phpBB3 and vBulletin 3.7 and 3.8. The messageforums.net software only works with phpBB2 or phpBB3. I don't know what software the Steve Jackson Games Forums runs on, but for some reason I don't believe it's any of those. Even if it is, either one requires somebody at Steve Jackson Games to install a new software module - that's time that the person could be spending on developing new games instead. And, honestly, what's wrong with using Safari to read the forums?

Re: iphone app support
You're mistaken. The SJ Games forums use vBulletin 3.8.2.

The bit about somebody needing to install a new software module is still true, though...

Re: iphone app support
I'm not in IT, so I can't speak to whether we'll be supporting that app or not.

And yes I can use a web browser to read the forum, when I'm at a computer. I just wanted to see if it was possible to check the forum when I was on the go also.

I use my iPhone to check the forums here all the time, but I don't use an app to do it. I use the iPhone's built in web browser, Safari. I have had absolutely no problems using it. |

Re: iphone app support
Ditto. I've read, moderated, and done admin tasks on these forums from my iPhone, using just the browser. Of course, I'm old enough to remember when replacing a bunch of specialized Internet clients with a browser was welcomed as a simplification . . . I'd rather use a browser than a browser plus a forums app, ftp app, MOO app, etc. This is especially true on my iPhone, where memory is at a premium! What would the advantage of a forums client be over just leaving a Safari tab open with the forums on it? Maybe if the upside were made clearer, we could look into addressing the matter.

Re: iphone app support
Ah, that's the problem. I'm just slightly older than you, Kromm, and to me it was replacing a bunch of tools that worked well with half-baked web browser implementations of them. Give me an FTP app, NNTP app, MOO app, etc. over a browser solution any day.
